SOCHI - Serbian Minister for Innovation and Technological Development Nenad Popovic on Monday announced that construction of a nuclear technology and innovation research centre - a project to be undertaken by Serbia and Russia's Rosatom corporation - would begin next year.

Popovic said this in a statement to Serbian reporters in Sochi after he and Rosatom CEO Alexey Likhachev signed two memorandums on cooperation at the Atomexpo conference.

He said the Belgrade facility would be Europe's most modern centre for nuclear technologies and innovation.

"It will be a real presentation of the latest technologies, security systems, innovations and all leading-edge technologies that today rank Rosatom in the top spot in nuclear research," Popovic said.
