BELGRADE - Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said Tuesday French President Emmanuel Macron understood the difficulty of the Kosovo-Metohija problem and that things could not be resolved if no one budged from anything.

"I asked him for support and to understand that this cannot be solved the way all of us would like it to be solved, but that it must be something in between," Vucic noted.

Every Serb and every Albanian understands that, but we often "pretend to be stupid" and disparage the desires and demands of the other side, Vucic said.

"Compromise is not weakness, but strength," Vucic noted, adding that he would always push for real compromise, rather than for surrendering or giving up.

If we can, we will go in that direction, and if we cannot, some other generations will, but we do not want to live in fear of wars and conflicts, he said.
