BELGRADE - Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic on Friday announced he would have many meetings with international officials during next week's general debate in the UN General Assembly and that the discussions would be difficult because Kosovo would be the dominant topic.

"I will have countless meetings in New York, with people from the EU, many bilateral meetings, and again with (German) Chancellor Angela Merkel, which is my pleasure," he told Pink TV.

"I will also have a meeting with Russian (Foreign) Minister Sergey Lavrov," Vucic said, and added that "every minute with the US president" was valuable.

He said he would also speak with Kyriakos Mitsotakis for the first time since he took office as Greek PM.

"He will also want to hear the Albanian side, and our plea to our Greek friends will be not to recognise the independence of Kosovo," Vucic said.

"The US expects Serbia to recognise Kosovo's independence - as you saw in President (Donald) Trump's letter. Let us not deceive the people... ...Other Western countries that recognise Kosovo will say the same thing," he concluded.
