Serbia, Belarus sign bilateral agreements, memorandums

Serbia and Belarus on Tuesday signed seven agreements and memorandums on cooperation in several areas.

BELGRADE - Serbia and Belarus on Tuesday signed seven agreements and memorandums on cooperation in several areas.

A signing ceremony at the Palace of Serbia was also attended by Presidents Aleksandar Vucic and Alexander Lukashenko.

Serbian Minister of Education, Science and Technological Development Mladen Sarcevic and Vladimir Gusakov, chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, signed an agreement on scientific and technological cooperation.

The two parties agreed to develop and strengthen cooperation in technology by exchanging information in science and technology and through joint projects, etc.

Serbian Minister for Innovation and Technological Development Nenad Popovic and Alexander Shumilin, chairman of the State Science and Technology Committee of Belarus, signed a MoU on cooperation in innovation and development of digital technologies.

Among other things, the document envisions development of a national innovation ecosystem and innovation-based entrepreneurship and development of digital technologies in all segments of society, in particular in public administration, education and health care, business and cryptocurrencies, etc.

Serbia and Belarus will also undertake joint research in the energy, agroindustrial technology, medical, pharmaceutical, chemical technology and communications sectors, among others.

The documents signed also include agreements between the Serbian Postal Savings Bank and the Belarusbank on opening correspondent accounts.
