The Serbian government has set up an 18-member working group to improve the rakia production and the rakia market, according to the latest issue of the Official Gazette.

BELGRADE - The Serbian government has set up an 18-member working group to improve the rakia production and the rakia market, according to the latest issue of the Official Gazette.

The group is tasked with developing a strategic document assessing the situation concerning the production and marketing of rakia with the aim of introducing appropriate measures to solve existing problems, the government said in a decision.

The working group, headed by the state secretary at the Agriculture Ministry, Velimir Stanojevic, will assess the situation from raw fruit production at plantations and acquisitions of equipment and machinery to the marketing of rakia.

The group, which includes six representatives of the national association of rakia producers, has a one-year mandate.
