BELGRADE - Serbian Deputy PM and Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Zorana Mihajlovic on Tuesday received the president of the China Railway International Corporation (CRIC), Yang Zhongmin, to discuss the implementation of a project to modernise the rail line from Belgrade to Budapest.

The meeting was also attended by Chinese Ambassador to Serbia Chen Bo.

Mihajlovic said Serbia's infrastructure projects with China were worth 15 bln euros.

She said the high-speed rail line project was "very significant for Serbia, not only because it is the largest project in Serbia and southeastern Europe, but also because it makes us a part of the global Belt and Road initiative."

"In March this year, we will have 34 km of the left track of the Belgrade-Stara Pazova rail line completed and its right track will also be finished by October, which is important for Belgrade and Beovoz.

In the autumn of 2021, the section to Novi Sad will be completed and the city will be reachable from Belgrade in 25 minutes. In March this year, we will start the works on a third section from Novi Sad to the Hungarian border," a statement from Mihajlovic's ministry quoted her as saying.
