BELGRADE - Serbian Finance Minister Sinisa Mali on Friday said the government had adopted a 2020-2024 strategy on prevention of money laundering and financing of terrorism, and added that it was another major step in a fight to strengthen Serbia's economic system, the Finance Ministry said in a statement.

He said this was an important stop on the road to a healthy and protected economy and a legal and regulatory base protecting the economy from illegal flows of money.

"Unregulated flows of money render every financial system and economy vulnerable and make it more difficult to find an answer to economic challenges, which are becoming increasingly numerous in an era of globalisation and digitalisation," Mali said.

The strategy reflects Serbia's coordinated approach to the problems of money laundering and financing of terrorism, he said.
