BELGRADE - Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic on Sunday declared a state of emergency across Serbia over the coronavirus outbreak.

Speaking at a press conference, he said the decision had been made with immediate effect.

"Starting from today, Serbia is at war against an invisible adversary, a dangerous, vile adversary our country must defeat," Vucic said at the press conference after several meetings with authorities earlier in the day.

The struggle that is ahead of us is a struggle for those who have created and built this country, for the parents, for our elderly, as well as for the future of our Serbia, he said.

But much has been done so far, he said, particularly thanking doctors and nurses who put themselves in the service of the country to help the country and the people.
