BELGRADE - Serbian Finance Minister Sinisa Mali said on Thursday that, according to the available figures for 2024, Serbia was Europe's best performer in terms of GDP growth.

"We had a 4.7 pct growth rate in Q1 and a 4.2 pct growth rate in Q2. So, on average, the GDP growth rate in the first half of the year was 4.5 pct. Therefore, we are the best performer in Europe. I think we will be one of the top two or three countries as other figures come in," Mali told the RTS.

He added that Serbia was attracting record-high FDI inflows in the region.

Speaking about the Jadar lithium mining project, Mali said it could potentially be the biggest development opportunity for Serbia in the coming decades.

"Let experts, rather than politicians, speak - I am primarily referring to those people from the opposition who are taking over protests to again misuse one of the topics that could potentially be the biggest development opportunity for us in the coming decades," he said.
