BELGRADE - Serbian goods exports to China hit a record high of 1.2 bln dollars in 2022 and a growing number of Serbian companies see a perspective in exporting to the country, Serbian Minister of Trade Tomislav Momirovic said on Wednesday after a meeting with a business delegation from the Chinese city of Ningbo.

Momirovic said Serbian exports to China were on a steady rise year by year, the Ministry of Trade said in a statement.

"The Chinese city of Ningbo intends to import several billions of dollars' worth of goods from central and eastern European states, which is an enormous chance for Serbian companies," he said.

He said the meeting with the business delegation from Ningbo had been very productive.

"Chinese provinces are becoming increasingly open to cooperation with Serbia and an increasing number of Serbian companies see a perspective in exporting to China - especially when it comes to consumer goods and food," Momirovic said.

Momirovic, who co-chairs a Sino-Serbian commission on trade and economic cooperation, announced that special emphasis would be placed on maximising the number of Serbian companies with a market presence in China and creating an opportunity for them to showcase their products.

"Today, we took another major step towards ensuring an appearance of Serbian companies at the China-CEE Investment and Trade Expo in Ningbo alongside companies from Poland, Slovenia, the Czech Republic and Slovakia," he said.
