Serbia registers 6.1 bln euro budget surplus in January

BELGRADE - Serbia registered a 6.1 bln dinar budget surplus in January 2023, the Ministry of Finance has announced.

Revenues totalled 150.3 bln dinars, while expenditures amounted to 136 bln dinars.

VAT and excise duties made up most of the tax revenues, totalling 68.8 bln dinars and 43.8 bln dinars, respectively, while non-tax revenues amounted to 13.3 bln dinars and donations stood at 1 bln dinars.

Overall expenditures stood at 144.2 bln dinars.

Expenditures for employees totalled 29.4 bln dinars, interest payments amounted to 23 bln and transfers to the pension and disability insurance fund, the national health insurance fund, the military social insurance fund and the national employment service totalled 17.6 bln dinars, with capital expenditures at 17.1 bln dinars and expenditures for financial asset acquisition at 15.6 bln dinars.

At general government level, a 1.2 bln dinar fiscal surplus and a 24.2 bln dinar primary fiscal surplus were registered in January, the ministry also said.
