US e-vehicle maker Rivian opens tech centre in Belgrade
BELGRADE - US e-vehicle manufacturer Rivian opened a tech centre in New Belgrade on Thursday at a ceremony also attended by Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic.
Serbian Minister of Science Jelena Begovic, Rivian executives Cindy Nicola and Wassym Bensaid and US Ambassador to Serbia Christopher Hill were also in attendance.
The company has said it had already received hundreds of job applications in Serbia and that the centre's first employees had started working a few days ago.
Rivian has also announced it would hire 200 engineers in Belgrade by the end of the year and then create an additional 1,000 jobs.
The company was established in 2009 and will be operating under the name of Rivian SE Europe d.o.o. Beograd in Serbia.
