BELGRADE - Air Serbia carried 235,000 passengers in March, which is a 91.2 pct increase y-o-y and a 68.3 pct increase compared to 2019, the Serbian flag carrier said on Tuesday.

"From its hub at Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport, as well as the airports in Nis and Kraljevo, Air Serbia operated 2,795 flights in March, for a 69.5 pct increase y-o-y, and a 43 pct jump compared to the record-breaking pre-pandemic 2019," the company said in a statement, adding that this was its best March result since it had begun operating under its current name in 2013.

"The recently concluded winter season was very successful for us. We achieved exceptional results in January and February, both when it comes to the number of passengers carried and to the number of flights operated. This trend continued in March, which is the ninth consecutive record-breaking month for our company. We introduced the summer flight schedule and prepared a series of new destinations that we did not fly to in 2022. A large number of scheduled destinations will feature boosted weekly frequencies, and we will launch seasonal flights as well. The most active part of the year is ahead of us, and we believe that the results in the coming months will be even better," said Air Serbia General Manager Commercial and Strategy Bosko Rupic.

"In March, the most popular Air Serbia destinations in Western Europe were Zurich, Paris, Vienna, and Berlin. When it comes to the wider region, Podgorica and Tivat, as well as Athens and Istanbul saw the highest demand," Air Serbia said, adding that it had launched direct flights to Budapest last month.
