Belgrade, Serbia present bid to host EXPO 2027
PARIS - Belgrade and Serbia presented a bid to host EXPO 2027 to Bureau International des Expositions delegates in Paris on Wednesday.
The theme Play for Humanity - Sport and Music for All was showcased at a symposium in great detail.
Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia President Marko Cadez said the net worth of EXPO 2027 as an investment totalled 300 mln euros.
"We will need a huge number of volunteers to organise the event. I hope that, in 2027, we will have Open Balkan as a wider initiative. Belgrade has the potential no other candidate can boast," Cadez said.
"This was a very strong day because it sent a message about what Belgrade and Serbia are today and how we see EXPO 2027 in Serbia. I think we have shown that we are not only a good destination when it comes to tourism, but that we are also good when it comes to investments and facilities that are under construction," he said.
"For two consecutive years, Belgrade has been named the city with the greatest economic potential in Europe," Cadez said, noting that Belgrade was especially attractive to IT experts.
