Vucic: FDI inflow in first half of 2023 at 2.122 bln euros
BELGRADE - Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on Thursday Serbia had registered a good FDI inflow of 2.122 bln euros in the first six months of 2023, or 31 pct more compared to the same period of last year.
"It always accelerates in the third and the fourth quarter, we believe this can be a record year and that the total inflow can exceed 4.5 bln euros, which would be exceptional. The share of Asian investments, including from China and Japan, is growing, while the share of some others is declining," Vucic said in a public address.
He said he had asked the government to particularly address GDP growth and the mining sector to boost coal mining.
"I especially ask them to address the construction sector and major reforms so that we can make up for high interest rates in some other ways, and to come out with new proposals so that we can accelerate that in the third and the fourth quarter because the growth rate is what everything else depends on for us," Vucic said.
