MARRAKESH - Serbian Deputy PM and Finance Minister Sinisa Mali said on Wednesday he had had excellent meetings with high-ranking officials of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank as part of his attendance at the WB-IMF Annual Meetings in Marrakesh.

He said the IMF and the WB had recognised the results achieved by Serbia.

In a statement to Tanjug after discussions with IMF Deputy Managing Director Bo Li and World Bank Vice President Antonella Bassani, Mali said the Marrakesh meetings were the most important event when it comes to global finances.

"Since every institution in the world that has any relevance in the financial sector is here, making an appearance here was important for us to present what Serbia has done in the past period, what we are doing at the moment, as well as plans as to what we will do when it comes to our economy," Mali said.

He noted that he had had a great discussion with the IMF deputy managing director and presented everything Serbia had achieved through its cooperation with the IMF.

"Huge reforms are behind us and we still have a valid standby arrangement with the IMF, and an IMF mission will come to Belgrade as early as next Thursday and stay for two weeks, so that we can see what we have done regarding the objectives we have defined and what our plan for the future is," Mali said.

"We also discussed developments in the global economy and the challenges facing the whole world, as well as the crisis in Israel and the Gaza Strip, the Ukraine conflict and the energy crisis. The conclusion was that it has become normal for new crises to occur day by day and that, for that reason, it is very important to build a stable economy," he said.
