BELGRADE - Serbian PM Ana Brnabic said on Thursday last year's first Biotech Future Forum had laid the groundwork for development of the biotech ecosystem in Serbia, enabling the country to grow and become a nation of biotechnology.

Opening Biotech Future Forum 2023 at Belgrade's Palace of Serbia, Brnabic welcomed guests from the World Economic Forum and UNDP and especially thanked Serbian scientists based around the world who were attending the forum.

"We set the stage for a strong ecosystem, we opened science and technology parks and set priorities for investments. The leading-edge Data Centre in Kragujevac is available to all institutes and science and technology parks," Brnabic said.

The 2nd Biotech Future Forum is hosted by the Serbian government in collaboration with the WEF, the Centre for the 4th Industrial Revolution and the UNDP, with support from the BIO4 Campus.

The forum has brought together more than 600 participants from around 30 countries, representatives of governments, the academic community, scientific and research institutions and businesses.

The two-day conference will address topics from the fields of biotech, bioinformatics, bioengineering and biomedicine and a special programme will be devoted to green biotech, sustainable solutions and innovation leading to a greener, environmentally sustainable future.
