Momirovic: Serbia to chair CEFTA in 2024
PODGORICA - Serbian Minister of Internal and External Trade Tomislav Momirovic said on Thursday Serbia would chair the Central European Free Trade Agreement (CEFTA) association in 2024.
Addressing the CEFTA Week 2023 conference in Podgorica, Montenegro, Momirovic said Serbia would thus have an opportunity to continue to pursue one of its most important goals - regional connectivity and boosting trade cooperation to the benefit of economies and with a view to improving the citizens' quality of life, the Ministry of Internal and External Trade said in a statement.
"The importance of CEFTA for the Serbian economy is enormous. CEFTA is Serbia's second-largest trade partner, accounting for over 18 pct of the country's overall trade. Above all, Serbia's chairmanship will focus on consolidating and boosting the implementation of the agreement and working on stepping up trade among CEFTA signatory parties, and it will also give us an opportunity to include digitalisation and e-trade in the priorities of our chairmanship," Momirovic said.
