LONDON - Serbia is creating an ever improving business environment for foreign investors and it is the right place for investments in biotech and artificial intelligence (AI), Serbian PM Ana Brnabic said on Monday at a Western Balkans investment summit hosted by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) in London.
Serbia has a highly trained workforce and its government is investing in education and road infrastructure more than ever before, Brnabic said.
The Financial Times has published a report about six local self-government units in Serbia that are among the top ten places to invest in, Brnabic said, thanking the EBRD for the cooperation to date in building science and technology parks in Serbia.
The goal is for the Serbian economy to be driven by technology, she noted.
Serbia has changed completely in the past 10-12 years - Serbia's GDP is now worth almost 70 bln euros and we expect it to be at 100 bln by 2027, Brnabic said.
She said Serbia's three main infrastructure projects were road construction, construction of high-speed rail lines as well as a natural gas interconnector with Bulgaria in order to also obtain gas from Azerbaijan and further diversify supply routes.
She also said a project was underway with the EBRD to ensure high-speed, reliable internet access across Serbia and that it was slated for completion by the end of next year.
