Brnabic: Serbia has maintained growth despite crises, difficult global circumstances
KOPAONIK - Serbian PM Ana Brnabic said at the Kopaonik Business Forum (KBF) on Monday evening Serbia had succeeded in maintaining economic growth despite multiple crises and extremely difficult global circumstances.
Brnabic noted that Serbia had been registering constant economic growth since 2019, except in 2020, when, due to the coronavirus pandemic, the national economy had shrunk by 0.9 pct.
"I think we did a good job. It is a pity all those crises followed year by year. Serbia could have been going much faster, but considering the consequences, we are pushing forward well. I am optimistic about the future. There is no pause in our work and we have already presented a new plan until 2027 - the Leap Into The Future, which envisions ambitious plans," Brnabic said.
"I am certain we will accomplish them," Brnabic said.
She said the government had responded well to the crises, the pandemic, a war in the east of Europe and another war in the Middle East.
"The global situation was growing more complex and we steered the economy and Serbia's policy in the best possible way amid extremely difficult circumstances," Brnabic noted.
She said Serbia had been one of the ten countries in the world with growing employment rates during the pandemic and the world leader in growth of the absolute number of the employed population.
"With the exception of 2020, we have had constant growth of FDI since 2012," Brnabic also noted.
