Serbia registers 19.7 bln dinar budget deficit in January-March

BELGRADE - Between January and March this year, Serbia registered a 19.7 bln dinar budget deficit, which is 43.7 bln dinars better than a planned 63.4 bln deficit.
Revenues totalled 483.5 bln dinars while expenditures stood at 503.2 bln dinars.
According to figures released by the Ministry of Finance this week, a 25 bln dinar deficit was registered in March alone.
March revenues totalled 151.9 bln dinars, while expenditures amounted to 176.9 bln dinars.
Tax revenues amounted to 132.9 bln dinars and were mostly comprised of VAT (73.3 bln) and excise duties (22.8 bln).
Non-tax revenues amounted to 17 bln dinars and donations stood at 1.9 bln dinars.
Expenditures for employees totalled 39.6 bln dinars, transfers to the pension and disability insurance fund, the national health insurance fund, the military social insurance fund and the national employment service totalled 27.2 bln dinars, with capital expenditures at 31.5 bln and subsidies disbursed at 21.6 bln dinars.
At general government level, a 18 bln dinar fiscal deficit and a 41.6 bln dinar primary fiscal surplus were registered in the first three months of 2024, the ministry said.
