BELGRADE - Serbian FM Marko Djuric said Monday's decision by the Council of the EU to abolish visas for holders of Serbian passports from Kosovo-Metohija, issued by the Serbian Coordination Directorate for the province, was a "small but important" victory for human rights of Serbs in Kosovo-Metohija.

"I welcome the Council of the EU’s decision on finally removing the visa requirements for holders of Serbian passports issued by the Coordination Directorate," Djuric wrote in a post on X.

Under the decision, the entire Western Balkan region is now subject to the same visa regime and exclusions for holders of Serbian passports issued by the Directorate no longer apply.

The decision will enter into force in all EU member states 20 days after its publication in the Official Gazette of the EU.
