Selakovic, Asadov discuss Serbia-Azerbaijan cooperation
BELGRADE - Serbian Culture Minister Nikola Selakovic, who also co-chairs a Serbia-Azerbaijan inter-governmental commission on trade and economic cooperation, met with Azerbaijani PM Ali Asadov in Baku, where the commission met on Thursday.
The parties noted that bilateral ties and the strategic partnership between the two countries were on an extremely high level and based on mutual trust and respect, as well as on a good personal relationship between Presidents Aleksandar Vucic and Ilham Aliyev, which is an additional advantage for further development of cooperation, the Serbian Ministry of Culture said in a statement.
Asadov said Azerbaijan firmly supported the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Serbia and did not recognise the unilaterally declared independence of the so-called Kosovo.
Selakovic and Asadov reviewed opportunities for strengthening the cooperation in transport, energy, trade and the economy, the pharmaceuticals industry and in joint investments and concluded that the session of the intergovernmental commission was a good platform for concrete results and for launching new initiatives providing incentives to the two economies.
They noted that the geographic positions of Serbia and Azerbaijan in their respective regions represented a major potential for cooperation and a good foundation for development of transport and added that introducing direct flights would have an important role in that, too.
