NICOSIA - Serbian FM Marko Djuric met with Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides in Nicosia on Tuesday, thanking him for Cyprus's firm position of non-recognition of the unilaterally declared independence of the so-called Kosovo.

Djuric informed Christodoulides of the current situation in Serbia's southern province and the difficult position of Serbs there, worsened further by Pristina's new, tendentious bans on the Serbian dinar and supplies of Serbian goods, the Serbian MFA said in a statement.

He also noted Serbia's principled support for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of friendly Cyprus.

Djuric conveyed Serbian President Aleksandaer Vucic's greetings to Christodoulides and said he hoped an official visit at the highest level would take place soon.

"In Serbia, Cyprus has a friend and a dependable ally in this part of Europe," Djuric underscored.

The parties also discussed economic cooperation, focusing on further development of the potential in tourism, including attendance of the Tourism Fair and the international EXPO 2027, to be hosted by Belgrade.Service Photo Gallery
