BELGRADE - At Wednesday's meeting with Russian Ambassador to Belgrade Alexander Botsan-Kharchenko, Serbian PM Milos Vucevic noted that an expansion of the Banatski dvor gas storage facility in northern Serbia was a priority project in the energy sector.

"For the security of Serbia's natural gas supplies, the expansion of the Banatski dvor gas storage facility is one of the priority projects, as is the construction of a Serbia-Hungary oil pipeline, due to begin next year," the government press office said in a statement.

Botsan-Kharchenko said a Serbia-Russia declaration on economic modernisation was an important document for joint steps on the two countries' economic map.

He noted that the cooperation with Serbia's government and other institutions in the country was on a very high level and thanked for the support provided, especially when it comes to implementation of joint cultural projects.

The parties also discussed joint commemorations of the 80th anniversary of the WWII liberation of Belgrade, slated for October this year.
