Vucic: Serbia committed to global fight against climate change
BELGRADE - Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic met with Azerbaijani Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Mukhtar Babayev in Belgrade on Thursday, noting that Serbia was committed to sustainable development and initiatives that would help the global fight against climate change.
"An excellent discussion with Minister Babayev about all topics of importance for our two countries. We particularly touched upon preparations for the COP29 UN climate change conference, to be held in Baku in November. I highlighted Serbia's commitment to sustainable development and environmental initiatives that will help the global fight against climate change, and noted the importance of financing energy transition as the main focus of COP29," Vucic wrote in an Instagram post.
Vucic and Babayev agreed on the necessity of global investment in green transition, especially in countries that traditionally depended on fossil fuels, and expressed readiness for close cooperation and experience-sharing to jointly contribute to global climate objectives and sustainable development.
