BELGRADE - Serbian Health Minister Zlatibor Loncar condemned in the strongest terms death threats to Tanjug journalists emailed to the news agency earlier this week.

"I would like to express full support to all Tanjug journalists and to note that threats like these are absolutely impermissible and unacceptable! Your professional and objective reporting on the situation in Kosovo-Metohija is evidently a thorn in the side of those who do not care about the truth, peace and cooperation, but want to resolve their frustrations through violence," Loncar said.

On Monday evening, Tanjug received an email signed by an individual named "Trim Bardhi" that said Tanjug journalists would get "a bullet to the back of their heads" the next time they set foot in the territory of Serbia's Autonomous Province of Kosovo-Metohija.

Serbian Minister of Information and Telecommunications Dejan Ristic said on Tuesday the threat had been emailed from Albanian territory and that it was the most serious one a Serbian media outlet had received in years.
