BELGRADE - The participation of Serbian delegations and President Aleksandar Vucic in international forums and UN sessions has demonstrated that Serbia looks to the future and that it is one of the few countries maintaining active dialogue with both the West and the East, says Serbian FM Marko Djuric.
"Of course, we know where we belong - Serbia is on the European course," Djuric told the RTS on Thursday evening.
He said that, after meetings in New York and Washington, as well as Brussels, he believed that Serbia's discussion partners better understood the situation in Kosovo-Metohija and the position of Serbs in the autonomous province.
"The plight of our people in Kosovo-Metohija is enormous," Djuric said, adding that he used every meeting as an opportunity to familiarise the other side more with what Kosovo-Metohija Serbs were going through.
"We have also taken the diplomatic battle to the addresses that have traditionally been supporting Pristina. Both Washington and Brussels are now aware of Belgrade's demand for a return to the previous state of affairs. Above all, that implies a return of Serbs to the police force in the north of Kosovo-Metohija, holding elections in municipalities in the north - rather than having them being run by people who have 0.03 per cent voter support - and giving posts in the system to Serb judges and prosecutors. I am not optimistic about that, and I think the Kurti regime will always be looking for a way to make life worse for the Serbs," Djuric said.
