Vucevic, Fernandez discuss economic ties, cooperation in energy sector
BELGRADE - Serbian PM Milos Vucevic met with US Under Secretary of State for Economic Growth, Energy and the Environment Jose Fernandez in Belgrade on Thursday to discuss bilateral economic relations and cooperation in the energy and renewables sectors.
Vucevic noted that the US was a major strategic and economic partner of Serbia and added that US companies had invested in various sectors, including in IT, energy and manufacturing, the Serbian government said in a statement.
Speaking about his government's priorities, Vucevic noted that additional investment in capital projects and sustainable energy development were a major strategic goal and invited US companies to invest more in projects in those areas.
Vucevic called on US companies and institutions to participate in EXPO 2027, which he noted was an important opportunity to improve various sectors of the Serbian economy.
He thanked the US for its continuous support for Serbia in the EU integration process and for its support for stability and prosperity in the Western Balkans, and said he was confident bilateral relations would be developing constantly in the future, too, through stepped-up economic cooperation and political dialogue.
Fernandez said Serbia was conducting a responsible economic policy and added that investment in the energy sector, as well as measures and strategies aimed at carrying out the Green Agenda, represented a foundation for Serbia's sustainable economic policy in the future.
