Dacic: Situation in Kosovo-Metohija to be discussed with US officials
WASHINGTON - Serbian First Deputy PM and FM Ivica Dacic said in Washington the National Prayer Breakfast, which he will be attending on Thursday, was a good opportunity to hold a series of other bilateral meetings.
Dacic said it would be good if the Serbian delegation spoke with members of the US Congress and State Department officials about developments in Kosovo-Metohija.
"We have agreed that I first meet with (the US state secretary's senior political counsellor) Derek Chollet and then with (special Western Balkans envoy) Gabriel Escobar, as well as with representatives of the Serbian Causus, some of whom are Congress members," Dacic said.
"I think it is important to speak with them to inform them of the situation in the region as their political assessments are based on some prejudices based on false facts that existed in the public about ten, twenty or thirty years ago," he added.
He said he would also have meetings with Jewish organisations that had a significant presence on the international scene, as well as with representatives of Democratic and Republican party institutes.
Dacic also announced a reception at the Serbian embassy in Washington.
