BELGRADE - Serbian Parliament Speaker Ana Brnabic met on Thursday with the head of the EU Delegation to Serbia Emanuele Giaufret, who presented to her the European Commission's 2024 annual report on Serbia.

Brnabic said she expected chapters in Cluster 3 of Serbia's EU accession talks to be opened in line with recommendations.

Giaufret presented the main findings of the report and called on Serbia to accelerate its accession reforms and seize the most recent momentum in EU enlargement.

He noted that some of the most recent positive developments were not included in the report as it covered the period until September 1.

Brnabic noted that the report was useful to all institutions in the country as it provided a better insight into what areas required additional efforts in the future.

Giaufret welcomed the dialogue with the opposition, initiated by Brnabic, the establishment of working groups involving representatives of opposition parties and civil society organisations, as well as a reduction in the number of laws passed in urgent procedure.

Brnabic said she would analyse the report carefully to see what specifically the parliament could do to get Serbia as close as possible to the country's main strategic foreign policy goal - EU membership.
