BELGRADE - Serbian FM Marko Djuric received an American-Serbian Business Council (ASBC) delegation in Belgrade on Thursday to discuss Serbia's economic potential and capacities for attracting FDI.
Serbia's current economic successes, such as an investment-grade rating, a GDP that has more than doubled in just a few years and macroeconomic stability are a result of responsible political decisions and serious reforms carried out in the past decade, Djuric said.
Serbia's comparative advantage reflected in the country's broad network of partnerships and friendships with countries around the world is also contributing to that, he said.
He said that, besides completion of all political, economic, social and other reforms necessary for full EU membership by 2027, comprehensive economic growth and development, continued attraction of FDI, maintaining positive relationships in the broader region as well as regular dialogue and joint work with partners on promoting cooperation and stability in the Western Balkans were among the priorities of the Serbian government.
Djuric said further advancement of relations with the US remained a key commitment of Serbia, and noted the significant role of economic, investment, energy, infrastructure and technological cooperation.
Djuric said he was especially pleased with a recently signed agreement on strategic cooperation in the energy sector, which he noted was becoming one of the key pillars of bilateral economic cooperation.
He said the fact the US was one of Serbia leading external trade partners as well as its main export market when it comes to services trade - especially ICT services trade, which is continuously registering record highs - was also worthy of pride.
Besides the ASBC management, the delegation included representatives of US-based and global companies such as Archer Daniels Midland, Bechtel, Citi, MSD, Organon, Palo Alto Networks, Pfizer, Visa, USBC and others.
