Stano: Mandate of each EU special representative is approved by member states
BRUSSELS - Outgoing European Commission Spokesperson Peter Stano said on Thursday the term of the EU special envoy for the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue Miroslav Lajcak ran until January and that he was unable to comment on "what will come afterwards" but that the mandate of each EU special representative was discussed and eventually approved by the EU member states.
"The mandate of the EU special representative for the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue runs until January. Our mandate will be over very soon, this Saturday (November 30), so it is not for me to comment on what will come afterwards," Stano said at his final press briefing in Brussels.
"I can only recall that the mandate of each EUSR in the European Union is discussed and debated and, eventually, sealed and approved by the member states," Stano said in response to a question by an Albanian reporter whether discussions about naming a new EU special envoy for the dialogue were underway.
