Gracanica mayor demands answers from so-called Kosovo Police about incidents
GRACANICA - At a meeting with officials of the so-called Kosovo Police, Gracanica Mayor Ljiljana Subaric demanded answers about late Thursday's incidents in the central Kosovo-Metohija municipality, in which dozens of ethnic Albanians in cars with symbols of the so-called "Kosovo Liberation Army" and Albania blocked the streets, hurled insults at Serb residents and attempted to remove the Serbian flag from a monument to Milos Obilic.
"My first question was whether someone was arrested last night and whether they will be convicted. The second question was who was in charge of security in Gracanica yesterday and whether those responsible will face any proceedings," Subaric said.
She said the municipality demanded that the police develop a plan of operations to prevent such incidents from happening again.
"We did not get a major response except that the police will be working on the case and that criminal complaints have been filed against a few people, as well as that proceedings will be continued and that they will not stop until they find all the perpetrators and punish them," Subaric said.
She said Gracanica residents were afraid and unsettled, and urged them to stay calm.
