Djuric meets with Mitsotakis in Athens
ATHENS - Serbian FM Marko Djuric on Wednesday thanked Greek PM Kyriakos Mitsotakis for supporting the vision of a European Serbia, and noted that Serbia's EU accession would strengthen the positions of both Serbia and Greece.
At a meeting in Athens, Djuric said Serbia extremely appreciated Greece's consistent and continued support for the pursuit of its strategic commitment and foreign policy priority - full membership in the EU, the Serbian MFA said in a statement.
He also said Serbia appreciated Greece's clear position in favour of opening Cluster 3 in the EU accession talks and noted that, without clear progress by Serbia and other Western Balkan candidate countries on the EU path, there were no firm guarantees of stability in the region.
He especially thanked Greece for supporting the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Serbia, and added that Serbia supported the territorial integrity of Greece on land, at sea and in the air, including on islands in the Aegean Sea.
Djuric said the traditionally close relations between the two states and the two nations represented a strong incentive for further strengthening of Serbia-Greece bilateral relations, and added that Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic's personal relationship with Mitsotakis lent a special quality to the relations between the two countries.
He said that, for its part, Serbia was ready to invest further efforts to put bilateral economic cooperation on par with political relations.
Djuric and Mitsotakis also discussed the most significant matters in the domain of regional cooperation as well as current geopolitical developments.
Djuric presented to Mitsotakis the original of Vucic's letter of invitation to the specialised EXPO 2027 in Belgrade and expressed the hope friendly Greece would be represented at the highest level at the event.
