Janjic receives Belarusian ambassador to Belgrade

BELGRADE - Serbian Deputy Parliament Speaker Jovan Janjic received Belarusian non-resident Ambassador to Belgrade Sergei Malinovsky on Thursday and noted that 2024 marked 30 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

Janjic said the cooperation between the two Slavic nations had existed historically, centuries before the establishment of diplomatic relations.

Janjic thanked Belarus for respecting the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Serbia and for not recognising the so-called Kosovo, as well as for its opposition to Pristina's attempts to join international organisations, the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia said in a statement.

Malinovsky noted that Serbia could always count on Belarus's support on all matters of principle when it comes to protecting territorial integrity and sovereignty.

The parties expressed readiness for further development of inter-parliamentary cooperation through regular exchanges of visits by parliamentary delegations.

They said this was a good foundation for advancement of cooperation in many other areas as well, such as the economy, industry, agriculture and high tech.

Janjic and Malinovsky higllighted the significance of mutual support and safeguarding of the interests of the two countries' delegations to international parliamentary organisations and forums.
