Pristina's election commission certifies Srpska lista for elections

PRISTINA - Pristina's central election commission announced it had certified a list of Srpska lista candidates for the February 9 elections in Kosovo-Metohija.

At Tuesday's session of the commission, one representative of Pristina PM Albin Kurti's Self-Determination Movement again voted against the move, Pristina-based paper Zeri reported.

Earlier in the day, Pristina's so-called supreme court rejected a Self-Determination appeal against an election panel's decision to approve the certification of Srpska lista.

In its decision, the court ordered the central election commission to certify an application by Srpska lista and its candidates for registration to run in the elections.

On December 23, the central election commission failed to certify Srpska lista as a contender in the elections even though a registration and accreditation office had recommended allowing it to run in the polls.

Srpska lista then filed an appeal with the election complaints panel, which upheld the appeal on December 25, ordering the commission to certify the Serb party and the list of its candidates for the elections.
