BELGRADE - The Serbian government Office for Kosovo-Metohija said Wednesday's illegal closure of the Kosovska Mitrovica office of the Serbian Tax Administration by Pristina was a clear indicator that its PM Albin Kurti wanted no normalisation of relations or peaceful coexistence in the Autonomous Province of Kosovo-Metohija, but a forcible change of the ethnic composition in the province, especially in the north.
In a statement, the Office said Kurti was seeking to bolster his occupation and reign of terror and that his election campaigning was based "exclusively on extermination of Serbs and on expelling them from the territory of Kosovo-Metohija so that he can further hamper the Serbs from voting in the upcoming elections and help his desirable candidates continue their anti-Serb policy," the statement said.
It also said that, as a result of the closure, around 80 Tax Administration employees had lost their jobs in what was a "brutal violation of their fundamental human rights, including the right to work," but that Serbia would not let them be left without livelihood.
"That is what hurts Kurti the most - he cannot stop the assistance to Serbs in Kosovo-Metohija or break the spirit and the willingness of the Serbs to stay in their ancestral homes," the Office said.
It noted that it was especially concerned by inaction on the part of the international community and again called on it to take a clear position on Pristina's illegal moves.
