Brnabic thanks Maduro for Venezuela's support for territorial integrity of Serbia

CARACAS - At a meeting with Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro at the weekend, Serbian Parliament Speaker Ana Brnabic thanked Venezuela for backing the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Serbia, as well as for the strong support from the Venezuelan permanent representative to the UN during a May 2024 UN General Assembly debate on a Srebrenica resolution.

Brnabic met with Maduro on Saturday after attending his inauguration in Caracas.

Congratulating Maduro, Brnabic wished him a successful term and conveyed a message from Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic that highlighted the significance of strengthening political dialogue and deepening the cooperation between Serbia and Venezuela, with further development of friendly relations being a mutual interest, the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia said in a statement.

Brnabic added that Serbia was committed to deepen the cooperation with Venezuela in all sectors of mutual importance and that the country's participation in the 46th International Tourism Fair in Belgrade next month was very important for cooperation in tourism.

Thanking for the congratulations and for Vucic's heartfelt message, Maduro said he considered the Serbian president as a great friend of Venezuela and its people.

He noted that bilateral cooperation at all levels was extremely important and highlighted the cooperation in the tourism sector.

He said EXPO 2027 was an excellent opportunity to boost economic cooperation and that Venezuela would be pleased to take part in the event, to be hosted by Belgrade.
