BELGRADE - In a telephone conversation with Moldovan FM Nicu Popescu, Serbian First Deputy PM and FM Ivica Dacic said Belgrade determinedly rejected any insinuations about potential involvement of Serbian citizens in potential violent developments in Moldova, as stated by Moldovan President Maia Sandu.
Dacic noted that Serbia and Moldova were friendly countries that had always supported each other on the issue of territorial integrity, the Serbian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.
For that reason, our request to Moldovan state authorities is that they submit any information about the stated assumptions to Serbian security services, Dacic said.
Serbia is requesting all information about that in order to prevent anyone from Serbia from taking part in armed and violent actions anywhere in the world, which is severely punishable under Serbian law.
Popescu said the stated information had been obtained from the Ukrainian intelligence service and was being verified, and added that there had been no cases of such involvement by Serbian citizens to date and that the security services of Moldova and Serbia would exchange all information.
