BELGRADE - Srbijagas CEO Dusan Bajatovic said discussions between attorneys representing Serbia's Russian majority-owned oil firm NIS and the US Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) on announced US sanctions against the company continued on Tuesday and that, apparently, a decision on the issue would be made "at the eleventh hour."
"Unfortunately, the discussions were not concluded yesterday and are also underway today. The most important question is whether NIS will keep operating, and how," Bajatovic said on Pink TV, adding that, after a decision by OFAC, discussions with the Russian side would follow.
He noted that, while the situation was not simple, it was not hopeless either and that both Russia and the US needed to understand the situation Serbia was in.
