BRUSSELS - The European Commission on Thursday welcomed the formation of the new Serbian government, expressing the hope it would soon take the necessary steps to keep Serbia on the EU path.
"Our objective remains to support Serbia in the progress on its path to the EU," an EC spokesman told Tanjug in a statement.
He added that "credible and tangible progress on key reforms" was needed to unlock the next stages in the accession talks, especially in the fields of rule of law, media freedom, the fight against corruption, election reforms and democratic institutions.
He said the EU accession process also called for intensive efforts by the entire society and that it should be an "inclusive national project owned by all."
