Vucic receives Konakovic
BELGRADE - Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic received Bosnia and Herzegovina FM Elmedin Konakovic on Friday to discuss strengthening of overall cooperation between the two countries, the region's European path and other current affairs.
Vucic said Serbia was committed to strengthen bilateral relations with Bosnia and Herzegovina and build mutual trust and solidarity further, the presidential press office said in a statement.
He noted Serbia's consistency with regards to a policy of maintaining peace and stability in the region and respect of international law, and added that, in that sense, Serbia respected the integrity of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the integrity of Republika Srpska within Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as any agreements between the two entities and the three constitutive peoples within the framework set by the Dayton Agreement.
Vucic reiterated that Serbia welcomed an EU decision to award membership candidate status to Bosnia and Herzegovina, and noted that this was a positive signal for further progress and connectivity across the region.
The parties agreed that, in that context, implementation of joint infrastructure projects, including the construction of a Belgrade-Sarajevo motorway as currently the most important project, gave an additional impetus to a major strengthening of economic cooperation as well as better connectivity, the statement said.
