Brnabic meets with Hungarian ambassador
BELGRADE - Serbian PM Ana Brnabic met with new Hungarian Ambassador Jozsef Zoltan Magyar on Friday, cordially welcoming him to Serbia and wishing him a successful tenure in Belgrade.
Brnabic and Magyar agreed the relations between their countries were at a historical high point and the foundation for building future cooperation, the Serbian government said in a statement.
Brnabic especially noted bilateral economic cooperation, which she said was seeing extremely dynamic development after Serbia-Hungary trade hit a record high in 2022.
Brnabic said the completion of a Belgrade-Budapest high-speed rail line would lend a major impetus in the period to come.
Speaking about the problem of illegal migration, she said trilateral cooperation involving Serbia, Hungary and Austria was working extremely well, and noted that mutual support was necessary to overcome such and similar challenges.
Magyar noted that bilateral and economic ties had never been better and would also be improved further in other fields of mutual interest.
He said he looked forward to future cooperation and reiterated that Hungary supported Serbia on the path to EU membership, the statement said.
