BELGRADE - Serbian PM Ana Brnabic met with the German government's special Western Balkans envoy Manuel Sarrazin in Belgrade on Wednesday.

Speaking about the current state of affairs in Kosovo-Metohija, Brnabic noted Belgrade's commitment to preservation of peace and stability and stressed that she expected constructive support that would ensure lasting stability in the region through implementation of existing agreements - above all, through establishment of a Community of Serb Municipalities.

Sarrazin noted that the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue was a good foundation for further discussions and progress, as well as that recent steps forward in the dialogue were an important step on the path to the EU and that implementation was crucial, the Serbian government said in a statement.

Brnabic said Serbia was interested in strengthening its synergy with Germany and noted that, besides continued investment cooperation, especially in the high tech sector, there were great opportunities for deepening the relations in the energy and automotive sectors, as well as in science and education.

Brnabic noted that regional cooperation was Serbia's strategic commitment that was not only aimed at economic development in the region but was also an idea of connecting and unifying the Western Balkans and bringing it closer to the EU.

Sarrazin noted the significance of further steps to establishing a regional common market, and underlined that he expected the results of the Berlin Process initiative to enable the creation of a more prosperous environment and produce concrete benefits for people in the region.

The meeting was also attended by German Ambassador to Serbia Anke Konrad.
