BELGRADE - Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic received the UN secretary-general's special representative and UNMIK head Caroline Ziadeh on Tuesday to discuss an April 27 UN Security Council session on a report on the work of UNMIK, as well as the position of Serbs in Kosovo-Metohija and the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue.

Vucic said the security situation in Kosovo-Metohija was complex and stressed, in that context, that Serbia considered as important the timely and adequate UN reactions to the numerous incidents, provocations and unilateral acts by Pristina that violated UN SC Resolution 1244 and jeopardised the rights and the security of Serbs and other non-Albanian populations, the presidential press office said in a statement.

Vucic reiterated that Serbia insisted on maintenance of peace and stability in the region and on respect of international law and implementation of UN SC Resolution 1244.

Ziadeh expressed support for the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue and stressed the need to turn political commitments into concrete actions for the benefit of Serbs and ethnic Albanians in Kosovo-Metohija.

The parties agreed that a continuous debate on the Kosovo-Metohija issue in the UN Security Council was essential for keeping the international community regularly informed on the situation on the ground.
