BELGRADE - Commenting on a recent New York Times article that accused him and the Serbian government of ties with the Belivuk crime clan, President Aleksandar Vucic said on Friday he understood the message and who it came from.
At a press conference, Vucic said an article like that could never be published in the New York Times "just like that" and that "it is known who makes decisions about that."
He noted that the article had been written in Serbia and that the author's needs and reasons for writing it, in fact, had to do with Russia, Kosovo-Metohija and other matters.
"They are doing their job and we are doing ours. I get the message very well and I understand who it comes from," Vucic said.
