BELGRADE - Serbian PM Ana Brnabic met with the Director-General of the EU Directorate-General for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Negotiations Gert-Jan Koopman on Monday to discuss Serbia's European path and economic progress, as well as relations in the region.
Brnabic said peace and stability were crucial for progress of the region, and noted that the EU was Serbia's number one economic partner, followed by countries in the region.
She said Serbia had downgraded its projected inflation and registered economic growth, and noted that this would be continued in the period to come.
Brnabic said a large number of companies from the EU were investing and doing business in Serbia, above all, due to the stable economic situation, the Serbian government said in a statement.
She reiterated that EU membership remained a strategic commitment and a priority of Serbia's foreign policy.
Koopman noted the significance of maintaining the momentum of reforms in Serbia and across the region, especially in rule of law and other priority areas.
He said European integration needed to be accelerated and noted that, thanks to reforms, the region could be an engine driving Europe.
