Brnabic, Escobar discuss situation in Kosovo-Metohija
BELGRADE - Serbian PM Ana Brnabic met with US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Gabriel Escobar in Belgrade on Wednesday to discuss the current situation in Kosovo-Metohija, focusing on the position of Serbs in the north of Kosovo-Metohija and all unilateral moves by the provisional authorities in Pristina.
Brnabic noted that arrests of Serbs in the province without any evidence or charges whatsoever represented a violation of all civilisational norms and the fundamental principles of rule of law and, at the end of the day, yet another in a series of violations of signed agreements guaranteed for by the EU.
Brnabic noted that Belgrade was fully prepared to continue the dialogue with Pristina, the Serbian government said in a statement.
She said implementation of already signed agreements and their application on the ground were crucial for continuing the dialogue and for work on potential future agreements.
She said she was primarily referring to the establishment of a Community of Serb Municipalities, which she noted had still not been formed even though the tenth anniversary of the Brussels Agreement was approaching.
Brnabic underscored Serbia's firm commitment to peace and stability across the region and reiterated that implementation and respect of already reached agreements would greatly help to stabilise the situation in Kosovo-Metohija quickly.
