BELGRADE - Serbian Armed Forces (SAF) Chief of General Staff Gen Milan Mojsilovic met on Tuesday with US Navy Admiral Stuart Munsch, the commander of the NATO Allied Joint Forces Command in Naples, and requested protection for the Serb population in Kosovo-Metohija.

Mojsilovic said the security situation in the province was unstable and volatile and noted that Serbia expected KFOR as the only legitimate security actor there to ensure safety to citizens and protect the Serb population and the Serbian cultural, historical and religious heritage, the Ministry of Defence said in a statement.

Mojsilovic recalled that the provisional authorities in Pristina had made a series of unilateral and provocative moves in recent years and said that such actions were contrary to efforts being invested by Serbia and its international partners with the aim of calming the situation on the ground and creating a safe and secure environment in Kosovo-Metohija.

The parties agreed that SAF-NATO cooperation was helping strengthen mutual trust and build peace and stability in the region.

They concluded that development of mutual relations needed to be continued in all fields of mutual interest and agreed that the established mechanisms of cooperation ensured that, the statement also said.
